From the Mouths of My Babes

Last night at the supper table, Hillary was coughing, her eyelids were drooping, and her head was hanging--she looked ill and tired. After one of Hillary's coughs, Abigail commented, "My, that sounded dreadful!"

Later, Hillary was pondering how tired she was while looking at how much food she still had to eat, which caused her to drop her head into her hands and proclaim, "I'm doomed!"

  1. Sorry Mr. Moberg, it just wouldn't post where it was supposed to and I've been trying for two days on different browsers. I hope you don't mind that its here instead of there...maybe you could copy and paste for me?
"Let us not look back," answered Hester Prynne. "The past is gone! Wherefore should we linger upon it now? See! with this symbol, I undo it all, and make it as it had never been!"

I picked this because I personally can see Hester just getting caught up in the moment after being stuck with her "A" for 7 whole years and she finally feels ready to take it off by physical means even though at one time she said nothing would ever remove it, but it would fall off in due time. It shows that she has changed in those 7 years, but I think she has changed for the better. She is finally content to be in love with Dimmesdale instead of hiding it and blaming herself. It also pretty much summarizes the 18th chapter. It's just really cool to think and visualize what is really going on in this scene.

  2. I don't have conversations or anything that eventful at the dinner table, infact as a family, we don't even sit at the table when we eat. We sit wherever. Was she so sick that she didn't want to eat? That would suck...

  3. Yes, Hillary was literally sick and tired. She's 4, which is why I find it so funny that she would declare herself "doomed." When I was 4, I don't think that word was in my vocabulary. My kids say such entertaining things that it's well worth the effort in our house to sit down to a meal together (which we do every night)!
