ALIAS Addiction
I'm now addicted to Alias. It's true. My friend has the first season on DVD, and we've been watching the first several episodes as though our lives depended on it. Jennifer Garner is great, and I like the mix of outlandish spy action and more realistic personal drama--she does both so well. My friend and I are only half-joking when we say that we've got two-and-a-half seasons to catch up on before season four begins on ABC in January.

this is gary kuzel who couldn't acquire his password. i read your section about your addiction to alias. i think your nuts. everybody has their own passions, and yours is not mine. you and my aunt share this same addiction to alias, possibly other crime shows. i am typing this in the nicest way when i say i can't stand crime shows. back in the day there were two crime shows, cops and worlds wildest police chases. these were classic, until abc, fox, and nbc decided to make their own versions of it. i was shock and awed by it. from that moment on, i had been at an all time low. before, i would watch a real drug bust go down in sanantonio on cops, but now alias replaced it, and i will never see that ever again:(
ReplyDeleteWell, Gary, I don't think a student has ever called me "nuts" before (at least, not to my face) (well, my on-line "face," that is)! I wouldn't say I'm a "crime show" fan; I don't, for example, watch the CSI shows or the LAW AND ORDER shows. I think it's the mix of genres in ALIAS that appeals to me: one minute it's a drama, the next it's a comedy, the next it's an action-adventure-mystery . . . and all the while, it's so dang well written with complex, unpredictable, and compelling characters!
ReplyDeleteFox's COPS features real people who, granted, may also be complex and unpredictable; but because they're also real, I feel like a voyeur watching shows like that . . . like I'm seeing something that I wasn't meant to see. The older I get, the more I appreciate good writing in a television show. [See www.geocities.com/kevin_moberg for a page called "my viewing" on which I list other shows that I think are well written.]
Do you watch any scripted shows that you feel are well written (reality shows don't count since there's no writer controlling the content)? And what's the appeal to you of watching real drug busts do down in San Antonio?! (Hey, thanks for the honest reply, too.)
This is Nick Winzer again, I would have to agree with bobby on this one. I would rather watch a show like cops becasue it is really going on, and it is very entertaining, that show will never get old becasue there is something differ ent every epiode, you have no idea what is going to happen next. It is not like other "reality" shows where there is really no reality there.
