This afternoon featured two major events: one bad and one good. First, the bad: Abigail had
another incident that resulted in a trip to the emergency room. Abigail was more "out of it" this time than last, necessitating assistance from the principal to help her out of the building and to drive her and Susan to the hospital, where I met them. In the end, however, we may have received the insight we were hoping for from the ER doctor on duty; for details, read Susan's synopsis
here.
The good event was receiving a gift at the university's annual employee recognition program and pie social. This marks my fifth year of employment, so I was given a certificate and a nice gift (see below). As I walked up to accept them, the academic vice president announcing the awards complimented me as someone whom students describe to him as an excellent teacher. If they're going to be saying things about me, that's what I want them to say . . . and if they're going to be telling that to someone, high-ranking administrators are an ideal choice!

Can you tell that both the wrapping paper and the bow are specialties with the university's name and mascot on them? |
