August's Thought-Provoking Question(s)

DEFINING MOMENT OF SUMMER

Those of us who are teachers or students do still have a month remaining of summer vacation, so summer's not over yet, I realize. But we can see the end of summer from where we're standing, so already I'm nostalgic for the good times of the past two months.

What would you say was the defining moment of your summer? What event captures or demonstrates the meaning of your existence during summer vacation? When you look back on the past couple months, what stands out as a highlight for you?

Of course, what defines your summer might be a negative event. Feel free to share that, too. How did it shape who you are right now? From this point forward, how will you be different because of this defining moment?

P.S. I warned you they would be thought-provoking.

  1. Guess who's no longer lurking :-)

I can't think of one particular moment that defines this summer, but the times I tend to think of as the highlights of the summer are those spent with family and friends -- relaxing on the deck at the Almlies, reconnecting with the Oltmanns-Koozins and DeJay and Steve in Bemidji, playing host to numerous friends in our sunroom, spending time at family reunions. These are the moments that have meant the most to me this summer, because the people involved in them mean a lot to me.

  2. The highlights to my summer were, hanging out withwith friends and going to the park playing night games with said friends. The main scary point of my summer is we are all ghost freaks well i guess not all just some are. We bought a oujia board and we actually got ghost to talk to uys it was amazing. Another highlight is when i went to my friends lake for a week it was the exact thing a summer should be, fishing , relaxing, horse shoes, and just hanging with friends. my summer was filled with events like these it was awesome.

  3. The highlight of my smmer was attending a confrence called SEMP in Chicago, IL with 14 other people from my youth group and 15 people from the youth group from Bethel E.Free in Fargo. It was a really good experience and really made me think about some things. One day we were in a suburb of Chicago and our group was with 8 other groups attending the confrence and we just went around and tried to talk to people and see where they stood on having Christ as their personal Savior and how they thought they would get to heaven...many of us didn't get the chance to do that, because obviously most people aren't just going to open up and talk to a stranger about things like that. I had the chance to play with 9 kids on the playground and one of them didn't speak English and the others were just wild and crazy. For me that was one of the best parts of the confrence because I had fun being wild and crazy like I normally am and it really made me want to work with kids and it was just another thing that may point to what I want to go into for college. If I had to pick that would probably be the highlight of my summer by a long shot.

  4. My highlight of the summer was going to the lake and spending time with my family. It made me realize how important my family was and how they make my life fun and interesting. Spending time with my friends was also fun, so it was a good summer.

  5. My summer wasn't too great this year but the highlight would have to be going to the drag races at International Dragways in Fargo with friends. It helped me realize how imprortant friends are and of course, how important boost is.

  6. My summer highlight is coming tomorrow actually. I am leaving to go to the state fair for the weekend. For the last 3 months I have been doing a lot of yard work for different people and picking sweet corn for Lyle Rose. But really my highlight is waiting for me. Work is o.k., but it gets old.

  7. as far as defining moments go, well I try to define the moment, not let a moment define me.
At any rate, however, there were several events this summer that brought me to realizations about the importance of a good friendship, self control and a strong will to accomplish and not give up. Now I have had a couple of things happen over this summer that have really enlightened me as to what is important to me, but what could have been near-death experiences do tend to do that i guess. All said and done, (I beleive that i have said all that i havce to say) I take leave with saying "Never let anything stop you in your journey and nothing hurts if you wont let it"

  8. I would say going to California to visit my dad, step-mom and newborn half-brother. His name is Andreas Roberts Betz and he is the cutest little boy i have ever seen!! He's really, really chubby-his legs look like the Michlen Man's! He's not like most babies that cry nonstop, he's usually pretty quiet. My dad will sometimes stand Andreas on his lap and make him dance with his arms! It's the funniest thing i saw all summer!
Going to the beach everyday for a month definatly stands out as a highlight this summer. My cousin, my sister, and I tanned every day and when it got to hot, we would just run into the water and swim for a while. We all got really dark! That was a lot of fun. But next summer should be even better because we are all going to go to Mexico for a week!!

  9. I would have to say when I went to camp in Itasca with the GFC cross country team. We were there for 4 days and it really brought the team closer.
This summer I worked at the DQ here in EGF, I was also in Minneapolis babysitting for about a week. Unfortunetly, all of my earnings that I worked for have and is still paying off my mom's van I crashed, and a speeding ticket.
A highlight? Toughy. Um, probably my grandma dying. Or, my dad losing his job (but he got a better one now so everything is good). I think I am a stronger person because of all the chaos this summer.

  10. I went to Band Camp.....while I was there a person went into a full body paralisis.....while his body was having muscle spasims....he ended up having an over dose of medicne....while dehidrated....and having no food within the past 24 hrs.....I took controll of the situation and tried to stop him from hurting himself while keeping him safe.....a Sheriff came followed by an Ambulance....it was crazy!!!

  11. This summer I attended a UND volleyball camp. I thought that was one of the highlights of my summer, because I love playing volleyball and I got to meet new people at camp. I always learn a lot at the UND camp and I'm glad I went.

  12. ok if i had to use one word this summer it would be WORK!!!! unfortunatly i had to work all summer, so i guess i have no life, just kidding, anyways i worked at UND in the accounting department as a secretery. FUN haha...no. i had more prank calls than you can imagine, most of them were funny, but why would you call UND and prank call, i dont get it. Anyways the moolah wasnt bad either. At the end of my 8 hour day, yes 8, i would either watch Viva La Bam go to the races, the mall, or even the movies. My favorite movie this summer was the Dukes of Hazzard. Other than the fact that Jessica Simpson can't act, it was great. Which leads me to my almost getting a speeding ticket. WARNING: If you watch this movie you cannot control the speed of your car, especially at 11:00PM.--I had my friends watch for cops, but dont worry im ok. Then when I went to the mall with my friend Evan he actually went into the pretzel maker and pretended to work there, he was going all tarzan i swear, but he unfortunatly is pretty much banned from the prezel maker let alone the mall THE END

  13. This summer, I was fortunate enough to go on a trip to florida with 16 members of my extended family in honor of my grandma and grandpa's 50th Anniversary. I know it's kind of cheesy when you hear elderly people talking about how when you visit Disney World makes you feel like a kid, but it's really true. It was such a pleasure to see my grandma and grandpa, after 50 years of tears and happiness, finally getting a chance to fulfill their dream of bringing all of their children and grandchildren to Disney World. The time spent in Florida those two weeks will never be forgotten, but always treasured!!! This definately was one of the best highlights of my life!

  14. My summer wasn't all that good. I didn't do too much. The highlight of my summer was going to Florida with my parents and older sister Betsey. It rained the whole time, but we still had fun. It made me realize how important family was.

  15. The highlight of my summer would have to be attending hockey camp at UND. It was a week long camp but it seemed like it was for a year because I met a lot of really nice people and towards the end we all just felt like family, and didn't want to leave. There was also a bad situation that happend this summer with my boyfriend he was in the hospital and still is. It's a crazy story because I was with him the night that this happend. Well he got posion in his body and he all a sudden turned purple and got all poofy and I brought him to the ER. They had to put him in ICU because it was a life/death situation. They also said he got a really bad blood clot in his left arm so they are doing surgery right now as I write to take out one of his ribs. They surgery is a very uncommon thing and kinda scary. Just seeing him there in his hospital bed made me realize to live each day as if it were my last

  16. This summer the times that stand out for me, is when i went camping for a week at Cass Lake. It was a great time for me because all of my family and friends where there. It was fun to see people that I hadn't seen in a long time. We went tubing and skiing, it was just a great time. The weather was the best I had seen it all summer, which made if even more fun. That was the only exciting thing I did all summer. Most of the time I was working at Hugo's or babysitting my neighbor. Over all it was an alright summer.

  17. I had a pretty good summer. The highlight of my summer was going to my lake cabin in Bemidji with a whole lot of family members. It was a blast. We were down there for a whole week and had fun the entire time. That experience showed me a different way of having fun it doesnt always have to be with friends getting into trouble, it somtimes can be with family members just relaxing on a weekend.

  18. The defining momment in my summer vacation was being on the farm with my grandpa. He is 85 now and he started the farm when he was around the age of 20. He taught me alot this summer, like how to combine and many other things. Now I respect him more for what he has done all his life.

  19. My summer wasn't very exciting. All I did pretty much was work. The places I have been working at are Bumper to Bumper, Paradiso, and as of now the Blue Moose. The highlight of my summer was going to maple lake for one of my few weekends I had off.

  20. I had a lot of fun this summer but it was nothing out of the ordinary I guess. It was kind of the same old thing. I took a lot of time off of work so I could pretty much do whatever I wanted. There was always something to do so for once it wasn't boring! I like not having a schedule every day. I had fun!!

  21. My summer hasn't been anything special! The last week of July and beginning of August, I went on a missions trip to Wyoming! It was a blast, I went with alot of the "underclassmen", but that is beside the point. The trip was hot and dreadful, but it was all worth it in the end. When we got there, we got split into teams. My team had to help two old couple fix up their house the first two days, then do a day care for the last two days. Seeing the looks in the faces of those we have helped is an amazing experience. I advise you all to take a missions trip or something like that!!!!!!!!1

  23. MY summer wasn't that great. But going to Chicago and visiting my sister is always fun. The other thing that stands out was going to state for soccer. Otherwise just hanging out with friends was fun!

  24. To tell you the truth, my summer wasn't as exciting as I hoped it would be, and as I sit here on the first day of school, I wish the summer wouldn't have gone by as fast as it did. Too many things changed over the summer... My summer was very work oriented, and as far as I can remember, I slept-in past 6:30 a.m. approximately 6 times. There really weren't any "defining" moments, possibly a few negative events in the past couple of weeks. Although, one morning while bored at work, (I was a nanny for a Doctor's family, and the boys had a tendency to sleep in) I actually read a really great book, "Tuesday's with Morrie."

  26. My summer consisted of being at the lake for the most part. The weather was great so I had an awesome time!
On August 25th, 2005 I took a tour of Bemidji State University. I have always loved the Bemidji area and they have great Accounting degrees. (Because I want to be a CPA, Certified Public Accountant.)
And probably the greatest highlight of my summer was my sister, Audrea, and brother-in-law, Jay telling me that they were going to have a litte baby boy, Jace Ryan. And just yesterday they asked me if I wanted to be the godmother.. and of course I accepted! So here I am at the end of my summer, an aunt and a godmother at the same time!

  27. I have a good summer but it went by too fast. The most fun part of the summer was when I was at my dad's in Phoenix. It was nice to stay there for a month, we even got a new house so it was fun to live in a new house rather than an apartment. The worst part is leaving because it hits you that family is alot more important than you think and when you can't be with them all the time it sucks.

  28. The "Highlight" of my summer was going down to Blaine at the end of July to compete in state soccer. Our team had made it before but never won a game, so our goal for this summer was to win a game. And we succeeded in doing that by winning our third game against Bemidjii 2 to 1.

  29. I think the most defining part of my summer would have to be the Upward Bound Summer Program. It was fun yet educational. They teach you not only what college life will be like just in the classroom but outside also. You are thrown in to a situation with 65 other people from all over North Dakota and Minnesota. You bond with these people in way that you would in college. You need to do your own laundry, get up on your own, be on time for classes or activities, act appropriate for work, and take care of your own personal space because no one else is there to do these things for you. This was definatly one learning experience I will never forget and I definatly made many friends that i will never forget. I am very excited to see what next years program has in store for us!

  30. This summer there was not a high point. I mostly worked at Hugo's all summer which isn't all to exciting. I changed in the aspect that I have more money than when I began the summer.

  31. I didn't really have any highlights that stick out in my summer. I worked @ JcPennys and attended a few volleyball camps. This past weekend I was in my aunts wedding, and that was alot of fun. I went to Fargo a couple times to SHOP!! But otherwise it was pretty uneventful, but it went by way too fast!

  32. I just recently went to a square dance weekend in St. Croix State Park. This was my mom and my last fling of the summer before school started. We met so many eccentric and music-loving people who were very friendly and talented. I felt right at home! I danced my heart out and at night I was so exhausted that the all night jams didn't even keep me awake. I got my own jamming in on my fiddle as well. I'm getting better and better at picking up tunes and playing them on the spot. I got many compliments on my dancing and fiddling, and I am a more confident person because of this. I now know that there are people in the world who are similar to me, and that helps me be forever cheerful. Whenever I get down, I'll just remember all those folks who care about me and all will be well.

  33. Dear Mr. Moberg,
The defining moment of my summer would have to be the time my friends and I went tubing at Red Lake Falls. We had a blast. I found out that one of my friends (Peter Knopp) is afraid of the river. He would scream bloody murder everytime we would splash him. He thought that the river was a cesspool filled with disease and infection. It was hysterical. I hope that your summer was as enjoyable as mine.

  34. My defining moment of the summer would probally be going with my church youth group on a Houseboat trip. I went to a National Park in northern Minnesota and spent 5 days on houseboats with about 40 other teens. I got to know some new people really well. It was fun making knew friends, and meeting people who have a lot in common with me. This was my defining moment. I got to spend a entire week with lots of other kids and we had a blast swimming and hiking.

  35. I didn't really do to much this summer. I had to work every day from 6am to 2pm and the University of North Dakota. Otherwise I didn't do anything played guitar, skateboarded, and Went to concerts. That is all I did.

  37. My summer wasn't too exciting and i can't really remember any highlights.. or lowlights if that makes sense. I hung out with my friends pretty much everyday, and I also found a new job in about the middle of the summer. A couple of my friends work there so it makes it alot better and it pays pretty good. I also did some stuff for basketball. It went by really really fast though, it seems like we just got out of school

  38. there were no bad parts to my summer except i found out just recently i have to put down my cat :(

  39. hmmm we had a lot of fun this summer and there are a lot of defining moments. This one time we went to turtle river a whole bunch of us and decided to swim in the waterfall, you know how powerful they are and well there are also a lot of nice well mannered families that go there. We all ended up loosing some piece of clothing and got many stares...we had a lot of fun!! It seemed like the whole summer was filled with embarassing stories!

  40. My summer had alot of fun moments but the highlight would have been when i was working at seasons, and i woman came up to me at the cash register while looking through the paper. I was just staring at her, waiting for her to pay. She then put down the newspaper and told me that she needed to check the obituary everyday, just to make sure she wasnt in there. i thought that was really funny because obviously it wasnt true. When i thought about it later i noticed how short life is, and we should take full advantage of it!!!

  44. This was probably the worst summer of my life. In April my grandpa died at a young age which devestated my family. More recently one of my very best friends died in a tragic accident. It came as a big shock to me. I, for the first time in my life, realized that death strikes without discriminating towards age, sex, race, or any other device which seperates society. It hurt and I will probably never get over it. My grandpa had smoked his entire life and we knew he wasn't doing well, but when a 16 year old kid dies that is slightly different. We miss you Jakob.

  46. My summer, like every other summer, was full of mowing, babysitting and my favorite thing ever going to Maple Lake to hang out on the lake all day! The one thing that sticks out was going to Heritage Days morning breakfast with my Grandpa Amundson and my dad. My Grandpa is 91 years old and we drove his 1946 red Dodge pickup to pick him up. I have never seen him smile so big and he was so proud to tell others about his farm.

  47. The best part of my summer was going to the like every weekend end haveing fun with my family end friends. The worst part (which wasent even that bad) was getting fired from my job for nothing, but it just gave me a long vacation so that was cool.

  48. I'd have to say that the "defining moment of your summer" would honestly have to be my trip back to Bellevue, Washington. After visting for a little over a month I started to realise how much I miss it there. Then I look back at EGF (no offense) and see how dull this town really is. Towards the end of my trip I got some bad news that a friend had died. I ended up coming home two weeks ealier than I had first intented. After high school I do plan on moving back to Bellevue, Washington where my family and friends live.

  49. Well it was really fun, we didnt really do one thing that was more great then the other. But out goals for the summer were accuplished. My friends and I had it our goal to go to TRF to go to the water park, Red Lake Falls to go tubbing, a drive in movie in Warren. Pretty pathetic goal i know, but we accoplished all of them! But it was fun for the summer. We did many other fun things, for instance we played at the park, played bocie ball, croquet. It was a fun summer!

  50. I just hung out with friends all summer. I'd say the funnest thing was tubing at Red Lake Falls. Laura, Hannah and I were standing on the tubes. I think I saw my life flash before my eyes. No, I'm just kidding. Going to the lake with friends was fun, too! I also rode a moped for the first time this summer. Haha. Talk about crazy.

  51. My whole summer was AMAZING! It was so much fun! Mowing took up alot of my time...either at my house/farm or around town with Amanda. I also ran every single day with Grand Forks Central, which was awesome! I made SO many new friends there and I even went camping with them in Itaska for a week, which was really hard by the way, but REALLY fun. Hanging out with friends, going to the lake, I don't know, it was all a blast.

  52. This summer I worked at the bakery in hugos. I hung out with my friends alot. But the most funniest time was when me and my friends went tubin down Red Lake Falls. We had about 6 girls with us, and Laura, me and Amanda were standing on the tubes and jumping from one to another, but we had some people that didnt wanna do that and complained the whole time how we shouldnt do that, they were gettin cold and to wet!But it was very fun. Me and my friends also played some games, like, swap, or phase 10, and the best game bocie ball, and croquet. they are pretty fun games! Also my friend carly had surgery on her heart this summer, and all of us thought we should hang out with her more before she goes off for 2 weeks and can barly do anything after. So we went tubing in Thief River Falls waterpark, also into a drive in movie, played lots of games. I say this summer was pretty fun!

  53. The best part of my summer would have to be meeting so many new people and getting to know them. There were alot of people I didn't even like from this school but after hanging out with them I really got to know who they are and I am glad to say we will probably be good friends after school.

After that week we went down to anaheim to see my cousin mandi and her husband John. john is the manager of the anaheim stadium so we got a tour of the stadium, that was cool. The next day we went to Disney land\, my little sister loved it. the fallowing day we wnet to the beach and we played in the water, i swallowed some ocean water, YUCK!!!!!!! that was the defining moment of my summer and the most fun.

  75. My moment of the summer was when me and a couple buddies went to the river where we have a tire swing and spent all day down there swimming. I think this was my main moment because it was alot of fun and just relaxing and having a good time with friends is my type of fun.

  76. Well during my summer I worked for my dad and thats about it.

  77. This summer alot of thing happend but I would have to say the most memorable was going to wisconsin dells. I had so much fun and met so many people. That would have to be the highlight of my summer.

  78. one of the defining moments in this summer was when i finally got rid of the "iron coffin" or in other words my old truck . woo its good to be able to travel and not worry about dieing .haha well either way another defining moment was when i started going out with kelsie anderson she is a smart and funny girl and we have been dating for just over 2 months . being around her puts a smile on my face haha . well either way thats all i got.

  80. My summer... hmmm. this summer has changed me.. even last school year changed me. The highlight of my last 2 years actually has been Upward Bound. its a great program that has got me thinking about what i want to be in years to come. Yes things have happened that i'd much rather forget.. but i am no longer the person i used to be. Whatever hasn't killed me has only made me stronger. One piece of advice for everyone.. live life like it was your last. you dont know when its going to end. just like jake his life was taken unexpectidly but the life he lived will not be forgotten. his family is in our prayers

  81. This summer was both the best and the worst at the same time, on the good side, I met one of my favorite actors, Bruce Campell, I shook his hand, had a conversation with him, and received his autograph on two peices of memorobilia, I became alot closer with most of my friends, went swimming for the first time in years, and avoided getting into any fights with my friends. On the bad side one of my best friends died in my birth month, and ever since then I've never looked at my life or anyone else's the same. Which leaves me wondering whether this experience opened my mind, or clamped it shut.

  82. My summer seem to not be much to talk about. I sent it mainly in summer school from June 28th till August 5th in Redondo Beach, CA. The whole 'experience' I guess you could call it only seem to have one little impact on me- I dont want to see my self constantly falling behind in school. I want to accomplish goals and jump the hurlders along the way.
The only two things that stand out to me from this last summer was my last day at Redondo Union High School and my last week of living in CA. Since I started school a month late at RUHS I kinda took me a while to find my niche and then after I did, the bonds I made with my friends there grew stronger. When we were signing yearbooks on the last day out on the grass I realized I made friends for life but once again Im leaving them. The with my last week of in CA I had to say my good byes to my family ad friends. I spent the last week going to parties with my friends and the momst emotional one was the night before I left. My friends hugged me and held on which hurt to pull away to leave the car. I dont know what was worse... Leaving behind all my great memories or leaving behind all my friends there...

  83. I had many Highs and Lows of my summer. A couple of my highlights were my family reunion it was great getting to see everyone. I am now offically and Auntie!!! yay my sister had a baby boy August * @ 4:44pm We all are very thrilled and love him very much! One of the lows this summer was when a classmate of ours died Jakob Johnson didnt know him that well but he will be remembered by many. Well thats all

  84. My summer was not so eventful. One thing that did happen to me though, was I got my wisdom teeth cut out. It twas not so fun. I had all four cut out...I got put under though. That was kind of fun being all drugged up on painkillers. The funny thing about it was they have this special side door, so after they do surgery or something you go out that door so that the people in the waiting room don't see all the pain your in or something...andddddd I got dry socket a couple days later and some other complications which wasn't too much fun.

  85. Hi my summer went tooo fast!

  86. My summer mainly consisted of gymnastics, like always. At the beginning of the summer I went to a gymnastics camp in Wisconsin for 2 weeks. That was fun as always because there are a lot of college coaches there looking for the upcoming girls to recuit. When I got home from camp, gymnastics practice started so everyday I was getting up at 7:30 to go to the gym. On the weekends I was mostly at the lake with my family and friends. And that was pretty much the extent of my summer.

  87. This summer was super fun but it went by way to fast!! I met lots of new people, and that was really fun! I went to the lake every weekend and during the week i hung out with friends. So yep, that was basically my summer!!

  88. I am involved in the Youth Group at my church and this summer we went on a mission trip to Mexico. It was one of if not thee most enlightening and powerful experiences of my summer as well as my life. We spent roughly ten days on the trip and I would go back in a second. It was truly incredible.

  89. on july 25th my boyfriend, jakob johnson died. i'd never had anyone nearly that close to me die before, and it was shocking and terrifying. i've never known the amount of grief a person could experience in such a short amount of time. for a person to be there one day; sixteen, reckless, rebellious, bold, loving, optomistic; and gone the next is something that still seems hard to believe for me. for all his friends, me included, it's been a difficult experience that makes or breaks a person. and i know that we all have changed.

life puts itself in such an immensely real perspective when you learn how easily it can be taken away.

i'd also like to say thank you, mr. moberg, for attending his funeral. i think that out of all of his teachers you were the only to show up.

  90. This summer, wasn't quite as exciting as i thought it would be. i basically worked all summer, at a job that i really dont like, and made very little money. All of my money is now going towards my car, and with gas prices the way they are, its going very fast. This summer was also tough for a lot of people. Its weird to lose a class-mate, even if you weren't close to them. i know hes in many peoples prayers and wont be forgotten.

  91. My summer went by really fast. I mostly just worked, played softball, or just hung out with friends during the week and on weekends I would go to the lake. My highlight of the summer would probably be when we went to our new lake cabin for about a week over the forth of july all my family was there and it was a lot of fun. Over all my summer was alright.

  92. I didnt really do anything exciting this summer besides work and play softball. I do some exciting things like when I got to see my neice bella for the first time this summer and i went to medora for 4 days with my aunt. However I did have a sad moment when I attended a funeral of a classmate this year. It makes you really think about life and how we really have no idea when we go. RIP Jakob. You are missed!

  93. As everyone else has already said, summer comes and goes faster than anyone is ready for. It especially flies by when you don't get to fully enjoy it. When your summer consists of bouncing around the state for various meetings, camps, and conventions, it is easy to envy the kid who says they did nothing all summer.

  94. This Summer has got to be the most exciting summer EVER! I went skydiving in Canada with Friends which was very very fun. I went to Denver, Colorado and did so many activities down there.......but just recently (this past Tuesday) Me and my friend Ashley were coming back from Warren at 11:30 pm from a church gathering and we were being dumb and goofing off in the car and we swerved and she lost control and we rolled into the ditch about 3 times and lucky for us we survived because of our seatbelts of course thats what the doctors said! if we ddnt have them on I know for a fact just seeing the car after the accident We would not be here I know for sure so I am so thankfull and it has definitly changed my life and I know Ashleys to all we did was leave the Hospital with scrapes and Bruises..!!! hehe Alvarado is a Small town and everything but there is so much to do I think people take life for granted sometimes! especially when you live in a larger town..... they think they've done everything and get so bored but you can do so much......some of the things were a little dangerous but they were all so much fun! well I think I am done I cant really think of anything right at the top of my head but if I do I will totally come back to the website and tell about it...

  95. I didn't do anything too exciting this summer...In july I spent about a week and a half in Maple Grove with some of my relatives...it kind of made me realize that people need to break their routine and step outside of their comfort zone every now and then.

  96. The highlight of my summer was working at the East Grand Forks swimming pool. I had such a great time meeting new people and getting a super dark tan!! I do have to say I already miss work, never thought I would say that about work!

  97. This summer went by too fast! I really didn't have a difining moment all summer. I didn't really do anything great, I worked a lot and also went to the lake on weekends. I also would hang out with friends and go shopping it was pretty fun. It turned out to be a good summer. However every one of us had a bad experience this summer when we lost one of our classmates Jakob Johnson. He will be truly missed.

  98. My summer went extremly fast, so I couldn't really pick out a defining moment, because I had a lot of good, bad, and ugly moments. I worked really hard and had lots of fun, so we will see where that gets me.

    ReplyDelete
  99. i had a lot of highlights this summer but the one that takes the cake is probably tubing down the red lake river. it was a blast i went for my friends bday party. We had lots of fun but we did get cut up a lot by the rocks ohh well it was fun neways

  100. This summer was ok, not really too interesting, I got to go to the lake a lot though and I loved that, and I worked at the DQ too, at the lake driving the jet skis, and going tubing was lots of fun I love the lake, and hanging out with my friends I hung out with them a lot this summer too, and met a lot of new ppl too so that was cool

    ReplyDelete
  101. Well,
I didn't really do much this summer, and nothing interesting really went on, at the beginning I went to a hockey camp at UND that was really fun, I also met some new and interesting people there. At the end of the summer my soccer team ended up going to state and accually winning a game, which was new to us, but very exciting. And around the last week or so of summer I had my wisdom teeth cut out and developed a nasty case of dry socket. So like I said nothing to interesting, but it was fun just lounging around knowing you have nothing to do all day.

  102. I would have to say my summer didn't really have any big, major highlights. I was working two jobs...one during the week and one on the weekends. It wasn't really all that fun but the times in between I got to hang out with friends and family. But there was one thing that I'll remember about this summer...My mom and I met up with one of her girlfriends and went to a blues concert in TRF...what was really fun to see is that the 'world famous' Buddy Guy was playing...WOW, was it an exciting night!

  103. I would have to say the most defining moment in the summer was when I got my new car. With that car I could now go on trips and leave town wih friends, and it also gets good gas mileage so with gas prices going up i didn't have to worry to much. Even though there is a few things wrong with it, it is still better than my old one and I like it.

  104. Well my summer went by really fast but there was some great highlights. There were some awesome times at the lake and we beat Bemidji in the state soccer tournament. Overall it was a pretty good summer.

  105. My summer was alright. I found a job that pays 8 dollars an hour and all I do is push buttons all day. I like the job, but it took all my summer time away. I really didn't do anything fun this summer.

  106. An exciting part of my summer was when I went tubiing down the Red Lake River with some of my friends. We drove to Red Lake Falls for the day. It was fun. This summer I worked alittle bit. The rest of the time I just hung out with my friends. This summer was probably one of the best summers so far, because it was the first time a had my lisence.

  107. A good part of the summer was being at the lake with my family and friends. It was fun tubing down the Red River for Dutchs last day. This was a great summer.

  108. So this summer I went with my church youth group to Seattle. Where everything in perspective, is much larger than anything I've seen here. After having been to New York once before, not many cities get much bigger, but when the mountains of the Northwest (Which are very beautiful by the way) are placed with the size and atmosphere of Seattle, along with the things I saw and experienced first hand, it came to be one grand adventure that I will never forget. The people that I spent the time with, have grown to be good and important friends in my life and helped in countless ways to define not only my summer, but myself as well.

  109. My moment of the summer was when i went to the lake with my hole family, all of my 4 brothers were there and my little sister. We went tubing and jetskying. We just got a new boat so it was extra fun!!! I love being in the sun, i got a nice tan and a awsome vacation away from work. I worked alot this summer because there were alot of things i wanted to do this summer that were kinda expensive. But over all i LOVED my summer.

  110. Summer to me is being able to wakeboard all day. This summer i took a trip toYellowstone to see my older brother John. This was significant to me because I see how the wildlife plays a role there. If civilizaton keeps expanding and polluting we will wipe out the wildlife and eventually us, so we need to watch what we do with care.

  111. The best thing about the summer was going to the lake and tubing down the Red Lake river and going to the races to watch mack. the thing that stands out was hangign out with dutch before he left.

  112. Well, I guess that you could say that this was not the best summer ever. There was some fun things that I did though. I went to the lake pretty much every weekend. My summer soccer team went to state, and we actually eneded up winning a game. Those were the highlights of my summer.

    well thats about it

  115. This summer I spent every weekend at the lake. I also celebrated my birthday. But I would have to say that the highlight of my summer was when I got Keith Urban tickets for his cancert on Sept. 25!!!!! I also had a really good time hanging out with my friends and, to put it plainly, lying around all day. I would also like to say that I am truly sorry to everyone of Jakob Johnson's friends, I know he was a great friend and I wish I would have been able to get to know him.
    All my love
