Superb Salad for Supper

Our friends Leslie and Dave invited us and another friend, Michael, to their house for supper last night.  We drank Leslie's famous Bloody Caesars, they grilled chicken, Michael brought fresh fruit, and Susan made cookies as well as a delicious salad that I highly recommend you try, Faithful Reader.  Susan searched the Interwebs for a new recipe and found this one:

Southwestern Cobb Salad with Green Goddess Dressing from the food blog My Kitchen Cafe ("tried-and-true from my kitchen to yours")

Because we knew we'd be eating grilled chicken for the meal, Susan left the chicken (called for in the recipe) off the salad.  She filled a large serving bowl with lettuce and topped it with rows of crumbled bacon, diced hard-boiled egg, and the recipe's black bean salsa, yellow pepper salsa, and avocado salsa.  She added grated cheese, too, because . . . well, why not?!  She made the green goddess dressing but packed it in its own container to toss with the salad once it was time to eat (thus, you don't see it in the photo).

Leslie and Dave live just five or six blocks away, so we walked over.  It was a beautiful evening, which we spent on their deck while all the kids played in the backyard and all four of Dave and Leslie's dogs enjoyed the attention that we gave them.  There was lots of laughter (ask me about Dave's string of lights above the deck), lots of food, and lots of Caesars (yum!).  It was dark when we walked back home, but the night was warm and still--just lovely.
