Yep. We watched that moose drink, take a shower, play in the water, shake, and then walk over to a moose-sized drinking fountain in the corner of the fencing and put his big, muddy, feces-caked hoof right into the fountain. Nature is so dumb.
We also saw a mother big-horn sheep who had given birth the day before, but we couldn't see the baby. And we got to watch the bears and otters get fed -- all sorts of fun :-)
How fun! I remember Como Zoo from living in the Twin Cities! Cathy spoke of it. And I also know where Coon Rapids is! The Omaha Zoo has improved so vastly that it has been known to be ranked up at the top of the list of zoos worth visiting....along with San Diego! Just one question for Susan....what on earth do you plan on doing for Father's Day? Is it possible to top this sort of extravagance? ....(you can email me if you like regarding your plans... :)
I remember going to the Bismarck Zoo as a kid. I don't remember there being so many animals though! Looks like fun:) After reading Cathy's message I'm glad I didn't have to work that day! I have gotten to the point where the only time I go out on the zoo grounds during public hours is for when I have to give a tour. Otherwise I stick to the staff passage ways and avoid the crowds and visiting the animals on the zoo grounds prior to being open to the public. If your ever in the cities I'll be sure to give you a tour:) Good luck to everyone with the final days of school... summer's almost here!
Anna -- I'm sure the next time we get to the Cities we'll take you up on your offer of a tour! I remember spending LOTS of time in the Conservatory at the Como Zoo with Grandma Morey -- that was her favorite part.
Was that a moose drinking out of a garden hose?!? Too funny!

Oh....I know the perfect thing for Father's Day. Kevin always loved a big breakfast. Complete with a big steaming hot bowl of Oatmeal! ;0
ReplyDeleteHey, Sandy -- GREAT suggestion! I'm sure he'd love that...and it'd take up LOTS of the day, if the stories I've heard are true :-)
