The Whole Child

If you have children or grandchildren--or neighbors or distant relatives or fellow community members--attending elementary or secondary school in the United States of America, you might be interested in a new site sponsored by the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development called The Whole Child. The site's "Resource Clearinghouse" offers many related documents for your perusal. You might start with their recently released report, "The Learning Compact Redefined: A Call to Action." I haven't read it yet, but it's been in the news as a major push to reconceive the idea of a "successful student" from one who gets good scores on standardized tests to one who displays a variety of traits including health, artistic engagement, and preparation for employment. Check out the site, read the documents, and share your comments. (I have no personal investment in the site, so feel free to be honest in your critique or praise.)
